“Don’t Be a Kafukuswi!” Ninah Mpendwa Calls Out Husband’s Emotional Outbursts

Is love tough or toxic? Gospel singer Ninah Mpendwa spills the tea on her marriage to Mesh

Gospel singer, YouTuber, and content creator Ninah Mpendwa, whose original name is Ninah Wambui, has found herself at the center of social media buzz. Known for her fiery personality, Ninah sparked controversy when she publicly referred to her husband, Mesh, as a "kafukuswi"—a term popularized by controversial influencer Andrew Kibe to describe men perceived as overly emotional or weak.

This isn’t the first time the couple, part of the Gospel duo Wapendwa Muziki, has been under scrutiny, but this particular comment has reignited the age-old debate about public criticism in relationships.

What Led to the Drama?

In a candid moment captured on their YouTube channel, Ninah explained how Mesh’s emotional reactions, especially in public, make her uncomfortable. She recalled a specific instance when the popular Wajesus family surprised them with a house makeover. To her dismay, Mesh couldn’t hold back his tears.

I don’t like how you act as if you’re not composed,” she said in the video. “The other day, they surprised us with a house makeover, and you cried like a child. I want you to be strong—the way you talk, the way you walk. I don’t like you showing too many emotions.”

Groom Your Man!” Ninah Defends Her Remarks

After receiving backlash online, Ninah took to social media to clarify her intentions. Addressing her followers, she explained that her comment wasn’t meant to disrespect Mesh but rather to encourage him to grow into a more confident man.

Ladies, groom your man. If you want him to become a billionaire, groom him into becoming a billionaire,” she said unapologetically. “When I met my husband, he was a ‘malenge’ (pumpkin). In fact, a malenge promax. I loved him, but I knew I had to do a grooming job. I started working on him, and now my husband is an amazing singer. I even taught him how to sing.”

Ninah, who goes by Ninah Mpendwa on Instagram, further emphasized that she wants the best for Mesh, not just as her husband but as a partner in life and music. “The Bible says, ‘He who finds a wife finds a good thing.’ I want my husband to say, ‘When I met Ninah, my life changed.’”

I’m Not Here to Cheat or Settle for Less”

In the same breath, Ninah revealed her no-nonsense approach to relationships. She bluntly stated that silence breeds resentment, leading to infidelity or dissatisfaction in marriages.

Ladies, you’re there with your man, and truth be told, you don’t like how he talks, like he has no teeth. You better say it and tell the guy! I don’t want to get to that point where I’m thinking about cheating or other things. So, I’m going to talk.”

The Internet Reacts

Ninah’s candid remarks have divided netizens. Some admire her honesty and proactive attitude in helping her husband grow, while others feel her comments were unnecessarily harsh and disrespectful.

She’s right, but maybe she should have kept this private,” one user commented. Another added, “Why humiliate your partner publicly? Respect starts at home.

Despite the uproar, Ninah remains firm in her stance, believing that her tough love is what has propelled her husband to new heights in his career as a singer, songwriter, and videographer.

Mesh’s Response? Silence is Golden

As of now, Mesh hasn’t publicly addressed the controversy, leaving fans speculating about how he feels regarding his wife’s bold remarks.

One thing is certain—this couple knows how to keep the public talking!
